BEFORE YOU RUN, YOU MUST LEARN HOW TO WALK.

And before you can walk, you must learn how to crawl. You may have heard something like this before, but its true. Revisiting basic skills that require coordination, balance, and core stability is where I like to start because thats the bread and butter. Correct your imbalances and get stronger, plain and simple. A successful plan requires the following:

1. Have a Plan. Anyone can make you do burpees until you can’t walk the next morning.  What’s the point? There has to be a method to the madness. My structured approach progressively builds towards your ultimate goal.  There are no shortcuts, but if you give it time, consistency through sound principles is your best bet.

2. Train Injury Free. Results come from consistent hard work and you can’t do that if you’re constantly getting hurt. The older you get, the more important this becomes. Find a program that delivers results by addressing any past injuries while building your joint and muscle strength to prevent future ones.

3. Training Should Be Fun. No, I don’t expect you to be running to get to the gym initially, but after seeing some of your hard work pay off, you’ll start to enjoy it. Finding a class or working with a trainer that keep things fresh while challenging dormant muscle (the ones you didn’t know you had) is key to building lasting results.

4. Find The Best Environment Possible. I say possible because maybe your gym is at home and that’s ok too.  Setup an area that motivates you to workout. Maybe a framed quote, a yoga mat, or a basket of your tools.  And if you are shopping for a new studio or gym, it's all about finding the right energy, equipment, and proximity for your needs.

My goal is to show you that with a little bit of space and proper direction, you can find a better connection and confidence within yourself. The best way to find out is by setting up an assessment workout. This gives me a chance to see how you move, set some realistic goals for you, and make sure it’s a fit before moving forward with a plan. Feel free to get in touch. I would love to meet you no matter what your goal is! I am located at 2200 Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia.
